Beavercreek Township Audit Reveals Lack of Timely Payments
Columbus – A financial audit released today orders Fiscal Officer Christy Ahrens to repay Beavercreek Township $2,015 for late fees and interest because of untimely payments.
Records show that Beavercreek Township paid $2,312 in late fees and interest between June 2016 and September 2018 to vendors such as Lowe’s, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Spectrum Business, and PNC Bank. These charges could have been avoided had the payments been made in a timely manner.
“I commend our staff for identifying these issues,” Auditor Faber said. “I encourage the township to put strong controls in place to avoid similar issues in the future”
Between Dec. 14, 2018 and the present time, the township has been able to recover $297 of previously charged late fees. The remaining finding for recovery against Ahrens of $2,015 remains unpaid.
