Mecca Township Removed from the Auditor of State’s “Unauditable” List

Tuesday, January 29, 2019

Columbus – Due to the restoration of their financial records, the Auditor of State’s office has removed Mecca Township (Trumbull County) from the “unauditable” list after over 22 months.

“Complete financial records shine a light on local government,” said Auditor Faber. “It is good that taxpayers are no longer being left in the dark on how their tax dollars are being spent.”

The township’s incomplete financial records and bank reconciliations for the 2016 calendar year prompted the Auditor of State’s office to declare Mecca Township “unauditable” on June 12, 2017. They have remained on the “unauditable” list from that date, until now.

The Auditor of State’s office only removes an entity from the “unauditable” list when the audit in question has been completed and released to the public. The Independent Accounting Firm, Perry and Associates completed the audit. The Auditor of State’s office scheduled it for release today.
