Press Release • Ohio Auditor of State
Northeast Ohio Company Owes Ohio Medicaid $910K
Columbus – A Stark County provider of behavioral health services billed the state almost $840,000 for services that were ineligible for payment from the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM), state auditors found.
An examination of Medicaid claims submitted by CommQuest Services found a number of problems with the company’s service records, which should have disqualified it from earning $839,903 of the $12 million it received from 2013 through 2015. With interest, the company owes $910,621 to ODM.
The Auditor of State’s office reported 316 errors in a sample of 385 intensive outpatient services, including 30 services that had no service documentation and 44 that lacked required treatment plans. In six other cases, treatment plans were not signed by a qualified person.
Auditors also inspected 423 drug screening services and identified 47 errors, including 13 unsupported services and 26 services lacking evidence that a physician ordered the drug screenings.
CommQuest management declined to sign a routine letter acknowledging the company’s responsibility for maintaining records and complying with the state’s Medicaid regulations.
