Ayersville Water and Sewer District Audit Released
Columbus – More than $61,000 is unaccounted for at the Ayersville Water and Sewer District (Defiance County) according to an audit released today by Auditor of State Dave Yost.
During the period November 16, 2010 through April 15, 2014, Clerk Hope Okuly made $58,396 in adjustments to customers’ account balances for no valid reason. Following these changes, no subsequent billings were issued for the services provided to make up for the removed amounts.
In addition, the clerk also recorded utility deposits of $9,649 in the Utility Accounting System, but only $6,452 of the deposits were recorded in the district’s general ledger and deposited in the district’s bank account.
Findings for recovery in the amount of $61,593 were issued against the estate of Hope Okuly.
